e:PROGRESS’ offers Honda e owners connected charger, advanced intelligent software and UK-first dynamic energy tariff to charge their car at the most cost-effective times
Potential energy cost savings of up to £475* per year compared to standard flat tariff
Energy supply partner Octopus Energy guarantees that 100% of electricity comes from renewable sources
Honda is to debut its domestic intelligent charging service – ‘e:PROGRESS’ – in the UK.
e:PROGRESS is the most comprehensive and innovative home charging solution from an automotive manufacturer in Europe, and Honda’s first energy management service to be launched in the region.
At the heart of e:PROGRESS lies a connected charger and advanced intelligent software developed by smart charging and aggregation specialist, Moixa. The software sets a charging schedule to ensure the car is always adequately charged when it’s needed based on the requirements of the owner, while optimising the use of low-price clean energy. Customers can change their charging requirements at any time through the e:PROGRESS app.
Electricity is provided by Octopus Energy, with its UK-first dynamic tariff, Agile Octopus, a combined tariff for both the EV and home which allows customers access to lower prices during renewable-heavy, off-peak periods. Moixa’s software selects the most cost-effective times to charge the Honda e based on the tariff, which changes price as often as every 30 minutes in response to fluctuations in wholesale energy prices. This gives customers an estimated annual saving in charging costs of up to £475 per year compared to a standard flat tariff*, while Octopus Energy guarantees that 100% of its electricity comes from renewable sources.
e:PROGRESS offers a seamless experience in setting up the service, guiding the customer through checking their eligibility online, switching to the dynamic tariff and subscribing to intelligent charging. Ordering and installation of the charger is carried out by British Gas to ensure the highest-quality service nationwide, with ongoing after sales support.
The preferred connected charger for the service is the Honda Power Charger S+ (4G), which connects remotely to e:PROGRESS to schedule access to low-cost electricity. With a simple yet sophisticated design inspired by that of the Honda e, Honda Power Charger has been designed to create more value in the future with further intelligent charging services which interact with the grid.
As well as offering a unique set of benefits to customers, e:PROGRESS will support active grid management to help stabilise demand and to optimise the use of renewables. It also aligns with Honda’s 2030 Vision, part of which outlines the company’s ambition to create ‘new value’ by moving into areas other than mobility, including energy services.
e:PROGRESS is the first service to be introduced by Honda’s new Energy Solutions division, a business unit recently established to offer a comprehensive portfolio of charging and energy management products and services to EV owners in Europe. Other projects in development include Honda Power Manager – a bi-directional vehicle-to-grid system which enables the collection and distribution of electricity between EVs and the grid to intelligently balance demand and supply of energy, and to make better use of renewables.
Jørgen Pluym, General Manager of Honda’s Energy Solutions division comments: “Introducing e:PROGRESS to the market is a significant statement of Honda’s ambition in the provision of energy solutions as part of the continued move towards electrification and the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. This unique and innovative service, our first energy solution for Europe, gives Honda e customers a highly-advanced intelligent charging solution offering considerable cost savings, while our partner Octopus Energy guarantees that 100% of its electricity comes from renewable sources.”
Offered exclusively to Honda e customers, e:PROGRESS is available in the UK now. Further services under the e:PROGRESS brand will follow in Germany, with other European countries under consideration.

Leader in electric classic car technology and integration, Electrogenic, electrifies a Triumph Stag and a Morgan 4/4 for its customers
1976 Triumph Stag conversion is ‘world first’ Stag to receive an EV conversion
1957 Morgan 4/4 is believed to be the first professionally converted four-wheeler Morgan running zero-emission electric power
Electrogenic takes beautiful classic cars and sympathetically converts them to electric power using its leading, proprietorial EV engineering and technology – with the ambition of creating cars that are ‘better versions of themselves’
Pioneering classic car electrification company Electrogenic has finalised two ‘World First’ conversions of classic vehicles to electric power.
The Oxford-based leader in classic car EV technology takes beautiful classic cars and sympathetically converts them to electric power using its proprietary EV engineering and technology. Today it has announced two conversions; a 1976 Triumph Stag and a 1957 Morgan 4/4, which now both run on silent, zero-emission electric power.
The Triumph Stag conversion has been confirmed by the Stag Owners Club to be the first Stag to undergo the conversion to electric power. Electrogenic removed the 1976 car’s 3.0-litre Triumph V8 and in its place has integrated a ‘Hyper9’ high-voltage brushless electric motor, which delivers 80kW of power and 235Nm of torque to the rear wheels through the original four-speed manual gearbox. It uses a 37kWh battery which takes the place of the original Triumph V8 engine and the fuel tank and spare wheel under the boot floor. The conversion uses a Type 2 charger and offers an approximate range of 150 miles.
The Morgan 4/4 conversion, it is believed, is the first professionally converted four-wheeled Morgan to be transformed to electric propulsion. Electrogenic used its significant electrification and integration expertise to remove the original four-cylinder combustion engine and replace it with a ‘Hyper9’ high-voltage brushless motor, delivering 80kW of power and 235Nm of torque to the rear wheels through the Morgan’s manual gearbox. The team at Electrogenic has installed a 37kWh battery pack to the Morgan’s diminutive body, offering a driving range of up to 150 miles on a single charge.
Steve Drummond, Director and Co-Founder of Electrogenic “Converting older cars like these to electric power is about using modern technology to bring out the best characteristics in the cars. For us this means increasing power within the capabilities of the original vehicle, optimising weight distribution and not using too many batteries to keep the handling crisp and precise. Our proprietary electronics integrate the batteries and motor into a seamless system, making the cars as safe as possible.
“Our systems also allow us to maintain the originality of the rest of the car, which is a really important factor for us. For example, it means that we can repurpose the original instruments to keep the interior as untouched as possible. Ultimately, what we’re always trying to do with our conversions is to make the cars we’ve been entrusted with into ‘better versions of themselves’.”
Ian Newstead, Director and Co-Founder of Electrogenic “We love the challenge of converting beautiful classic cars with technology that means they will be able to continue to be used guilt-free, even in our cities, for years to come. Working on first-time conversions such as the Stag and the Morgan 4/4 helps us to continue honing both our technology offering and our knowledge of the integration process in different body types, and means we maintain our position as a leader in classic car electrification.”
Electrogenic’s Triumph Stag and Morgan 4/4 conversions are customer vehicles, and as such have been prepared to the customer’s specifications. Electrogenic offers a full suite of classic car electrification options for customers, and every car that is converted is unique, maintaining the beauty and engineering of the original but making the car as practical as possible for the purpose that the owner intends to use it for.
About Electrogenic Electrogenic takes beautiful classic cars and sympathetically converts them to electric power using its leading, proprietorial EV engineering and technology. Each model conversion is bespoke, enabling Electrogenic classics to be reborn as a better version of themselves.
The company is led by Steve Drummond, who brings with him two decades of engineering and finance experience in the energy and climate change sector prior to setting up Electrogenic, and expert mechanic Ian Newstead. Motivated by a passion for classic motoring history and for contributing to a sustainable future, the pair use their deep respect for and knowledge of classic cars to future-proof them for the 21st century.
ID.3 is now available from just £28,370* in new entry-level City trim
45 kWh (net) battery provides up to 217 miles of range (WLTP, combined)
City and Style specifications further broaden appeal of ID.3 family
The Volkswagen ID.3 will be available from £28,370* in new Pure Performance guise from tomorrow.
Two trims – entry-level City and design-focused Style – become available with the new powertrain, in addition to the Pro, Pro Performance and Pro S versions already on sale in the UK. The Pure Performance is differentiated by its lighter 45 kWh (net) battery, 150 PS power output and 310 Nm of torque.
The two new ID.3 specifications – City and Style – are also unveiled with the debut of this important new fourth powertrain option. The new Pure Performance variant majors on performance and value, offering a 150 PS and smaller range alternative to the punchier, and larger Pro, Pro Performance and Pro S powertrains, while still providing a muscular 310 Nm of torque. In Pure Performance guise, the ID.3 reaches 62 mph from a standstill in 8.9 seconds, and matches the 99 mph top speed of the rest of the ID.3 range.
Both specifications can regain up to 137 miles of range from a 100 kW rapid charger in 30 minutes, while a 7.2 kW home charger takes around seven and a half hours to take the ID.3 Pure Performance from 5% to 100%. Charging 5% to 80% from a DC, CCS charge point takes 31 minutes. On the WLTP combined cycle, the ID.3 City Pure Performance can return up to 217 miles from a single charge, while the Style Pure Performance can return as much as 215 miles.
Not only do these models introduce the Pure Performance powertrain, but the City specification also brings a new, even lower entry price for ID.3 ownership – the model now starts at £28,370* for the ID.3 City Pure Performance. As such the new models further deliver on the ID.3’s affordable and sustainable e-mobility brief set out by the I.D. concept of 2016. The ID.3 Style, meanwhile, provides an even more design-oriented option in the already stylish line-up, and is priced from £32,470*.
The highly competitive pricing also means that both of the new variants qualify for the Government’s Plug-in Vehicle Grant (PIVG), under the recently realigned £35,000 threshold for the scheme, doubling the number of ID.3s available under the PIVG to four. Among these are 58 kWh variants of the ID.3, which have the accolade of being among the longest-range electric vehicles on sale now eligible for the grant, with up to 263 miles available from the ID.3 Life Pro and Pro Performance.
The ID.3 City represents exceptional value, offering generous standard equipment as the entry point to the ID.3 range. Included as standard are a 10-inch Discover Pro Navigation infotainment system and a Comfort Package including heated front seats and a heated steering wheel; rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming rear mirror; two rear USB-C ports; and door mirrors with electric adjustment and folding, with integrated projection lights.
The model is also fitted with all-LED headlights and tail lights. The ID. Light interface, meanwhile, allows the ID.3 to communicate with the driver through different light patterns corresponding with functions including navigation instructions, phone commands and battery charge status. Further enhancing the ID.3’s interior with light is 10-colour ambient lighting, while natural voice control and Wireless App Connect bring additional convenience and connectivity.
A suite of driver assistance features is also standard-fit for the ID.3, with the City fitted as standard with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Front Assist as well as a Driver Alert system; Lane Assist; forward collision warning; and extended and proactive pedestrian protection, while front and rear parking sensors further aid the driver.
The ID.3 Style, priced from £32,470* is identifiable over the ID.3 City by its 18-inch ‘East Derry’ alloy wheels, while the fitment of the Design Package gives the model IQ.Light LED matrix headlights; animation for the LED taillights; 30-colour interior ambient lighting; tinted windows and an illuminated light band between the headlights and Volkswagen logo. The Comfort Package Plus provides 2-zone climate control and a variable boot floor, while a rear-view camera; ‘Kessy Advance’ keyless entry system; and illumination for the door handles are also included as standard, thanks to the addition of the Assistance Package for the ID.3 Style.
Joe Laurence, ID. Family Product Manager at Volkswagen UK, said: “The City and Style are an important milestone in the ID.3’s life cycle, as they usher in the Pure Performance powertrain. Offering the best of both worlds with value and performance built-in, these two important new trim levels further significantly broaden the ID.3’s appeal – an attribute regarded as one of the model’s key strengths by experts.
“The fact that the ID.3 City brings the entry price of ID.3 ownership into an even lower band is good news for everybody – and further cements the model’s reputation as The Electric People’s Car.”

American motorsport legend Roger Penske will attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed as the event celebrates “The Maestros – Motorsport’s Great All-Rounders”
Assembled cars will include examples from all areas of Penske’s motorsport success, including INDYCAR, NASCAR, Trans-Am, sports cars, Australian Supercars and Formula 1
Penske previously competed at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in 1963
Goodwood is thrilled to announce that former American driver and current championship team owner Roger Penske will attend the 2021 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, taking place from 8 – 11 July.
Penske’s attendance comes as the event celebrates “The Maestros – Motorsport’s Great All-Rounders”, a theme consistently exemplified by Roger Penske and his race teams. As a driver, Penske enjoyed success on both sides of the Atlantic, winning in NASCAR and making it to Formula 1. But ‘The Captain’ is perhaps best known as the leader of Team Penske, having achieved unprecedented success across a number of motorsport disciplines, including INDYCAR, NASCAR, Trans-Am, sports cars, Australian Supercars and Formula 1.
Goodwood will showcase Penske’s momentous career by assembling some of the team’s most famous cars at the Festival. These will include Team Penske’s first Indy 500 entry from 1969, the four-wheel drive Lola T152; the McLaren M16B representing the first of the team’s 18 Indy 500 wins in 1972; the Penske PC23 which dominated the 1994 Indy 500; as well as the 2006 and 2018 Indy 500 winners. Also confirmed is the Pontiac Catalina honouring the car that Penske himself drove to a NASCAR victory at Riverside in 1963, as well as the 2008 Daytona 500 winner. Representing Team Penske’s foray into Formula 1 will be the Penske PC1 from 1975, the first car manufactured by Penske Cars UK, and the PC4, which won the 1976 Austrian Grand Prix driven by John Watson. Penske himself will take to the Hill in the Porsche RS Spyder which won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2008.
An outdoor exhibition on the Cricket Pitch, detailing Penske’s illustrious racing history, will further celebrate the unique achievements of man and team in the world of motorsport, with an additional special tribute planned for the final day of the Festival of Speed.
This year’s Festival of Speed is not Penske’s first visit to West Sussex: he raced at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in 1963, competing in the RAC Tourist Trophy, where he finished eighth in a Ferrari 250 GTO entered by the legendary North American Racing Team.
Roger Penske said: “I have wonderful memories of racing at Goodwood in 1963 and am honoured to be invited to return this summer. I am very much looking forward to sharing in the celebrations with Goodwood’s passionate fans as they return for the 2021 Festival of Speed.”
The Duke of Richmond said: “We are incredibly excited that Roger is able to join us at the Festival of Speed this year as we celebrate Motorsport’s Great All-Rounders, among whom he undoubtedly numbers. We are very much looking forward to seeing the hugely successful Penske racing cars alongside Roger himself take to the Hill over the course of the weekend.”
Further announcements about the Festival of Speed will be made in the coming weeks.

Unprecedented demand resulted in a record month for leading finance provider JBR Capital
It reveals the top 10 hottest cars according to its records for March, with models including the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 570S proving popular with buyers
As lockdown continues to ease and dealerships open their doors, JBR Capital expects demand to further increase
The company embarks on a recruitment drive to deal with the extraordinary demand
Pent-up demand for high performance vehicles is being unleashed onto the market, with leading finance provider JBR Capital experiencing record volumes of lending on models from Aston Martin, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche in March.
Porsche proved to be the most financed marque last month with the all-electric Taycan generating a large number of proposals as interest in electric vehicles showed no signs of abating.
As the UK’s only independent finance lender dedicated solely to high-end vehicle finance, JBR Capital offers tailored finance options for classic, prestige, racing and supercars, lending anything from £25,000. Over the course of March, it experienced the largest number of proposals since the business was launched in 2015.
Darren Selig, Founder & Chief Commercial Officer at JBR Capital, said: “Demand for high performance sports cars, supercars and prestige vehicles is unprecedented. Throughout March, we have been inundated with requests for finance across all brands – but there have been some makes and models that have stood out and are clearly hot property right now. We believe this trend is being driven, in part, by pent-up demand following months of lockdown – and, as restrictions ease further, transactions for April are already showing no signs of slowing down.”
Over the course of March, JBR Capital received a record number of proposals from its network of introducers and direct clients with the top 10 most in-demand cars being:
Aston Martin Vanquish Coupe DS: “With beautiful looks and that V12, it’s no wonder the Vanquish is in high demand: it’s the archetypal Aston. It narrowly beat the V8 Vantage, which is also proving popular with buyers.”
Audi R8 DS: “Our clients’ top Audi, the R8 is the ultimate use-able supercar, whether it’s in coupe or Spyder guise. Other top performing models from the four rings were the latest RS6 Avant and RS Q8.”
Bentley Continental DS: “Fast, luxurious and relaxing, the Continental has been a huge hit for Bentley, but the latest examples are really proving popular with buyers – and it’s the 4.0 V8 they love the most, not the W12.”
BMW M3 Competition F80 DS: “Supercar performance in a practical body, the M3 has always had massive appeal – and the F80 Competition specification car continues to find favour as our top most financed BMW. It’ll be interesting to see if its controversially-styled successor achieves the same popularity.”
Ferrari 488 GTB DS: “The hottest Ferrari on the market right now. It makes up more than 50 per cent of all the Maranello models we financed in March. Following closely in its wheeltracks was its predecessor, the 458 Italia, proving that Ferrari really has the formula spot on.”
Lamborghini Aventador DS: “Arguably still the most old-school V12 supercar on the market, the Aventador’s appeal doesn’t seem to be diminishing. In March, we financed both the ‘standard’ LP700 – if you can call it that – and the ultra-high performance LP770-4 SVJ.” McLaren 570S DS: “The clear message from our customers is that Woking’s ‘entry-level’ supercar has all the right ingredients. It made up more than 75 percent of the McLaren models we financed in March, followed by the 600LT and 675S.”
Mercedes-AMG G 63 SUV DS: “It might look the same on the outside, but that iconic shape hides a thoroughly reinvented, super-fast and capable SUV – and as a result, it’s our most-financed Mercedes.”
Porsche Taycan DS: “Our customers love Porsche’s first electric car – its combination of rapid acceleration, stand-out styling and superb handling means there’s strong call for this zero emission sports car. Outside of the Taycan, the 911 Turbo is the Porsche with enduring appeal, whether it’s the 992, 991 or 997 version.”
Range Rover Sport SVR DS: “This continues to be our most in-demand Range Rover and it’s not hard to see why: muscular looks and a great V8 soundtrack combined with luxury and practicality.”
Since 2015 JBR Capital has quickly grown to occupy a leading position thanks to its unique bespoke service, delivered by a dedicated, knowledgeable team of relationship managers. All of these enhancements are underscored by its continued mission statement – ‘Fund your passion’ – which further emphasizes JBR Capital’s dedication to supporting true automotive enthusiasts.

The 200mph Club brings together the most eclectic mix of cars that have broken the 200mph barrier from the Ferrari F40 to the McLaren Senna
Pop-up boutiques from watchmaker Breguet, and automotive partners Argent, Bell Sport & Classic, Everrati, Thornley Kelham Nicholas Mee & Co, Rodin and JIA among many more
The London Concours 2021 once again gathers together the most incredible collection of vehicles ever witnessed in the City of London, across three days, when proceedings begin at the Honourable Artillery Company from 8-10 June.
Nearly 100 performance icons, past and present, will park up on the five-acre oasis of manicured lawn, hidden just off City Road – a mere stone’s throw from iconic London landmarks such as the Barbican and the Gherkin – from 8-10 June 2021. The main concours line-up of judged vehicles is split into classes which have been carefully curated to provide one of the most eclectic London Concours events so far – visitors can expect classes such as ‘Italian Berlinettas’, ‘Great Marques’, the ‘Lost Marques’ and ‘Iconic British Designs’ among many more.
The Italian Berlinettas class is a celebration of the golden era of sports car design from the country that was simply untouchable for creating masterpieces, this class is a collection of the finest Italian coupé designs of the ‘60s. The class will feature everything from a Ferrari 250 GTE, through the Ferrari 275 GTB 6/C to the De Tomaso Mangusta and the Alfa Romeo Sprint Speciale – this class features 11 of the most beautiful and iconic Italian cars ever made.
The Great Marques class this year celebrates Porsche and Lotus. From 356 to 911, there’s no shortage of automotive legends in the Porsche line-up. The challenge was whittling them down to just 10 of the rarest and most spectacular for this ode to Stuttgart’s finest. And for Lotus, with a long lineage of motorsport heroics and a model line-up of some of the most thrilling cars ever created, Lotus rightly takes its place in the spotlight at the London Concours this year – as the pursuit of lightness, visualised.
In an industry that is fast-moving, heavily regulated and often financially ruinous, manufacturers that may have deserved to stay, are often forced to disappear. The Lost Marques class is a celebration of some of the best marques that are no longer in business. This class will feature ten cars, from some of the finest manufacturers that no longer grace modern showrooms. The cars on display encompass everything from the Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite to the Iso Rivolta, and from the Sunbeam Tiger all the way through to the unusual Unipower GT.
The Iconic British Designs class features some of the finest British automotive designs of all time celebrated alongside their designers. Think Spen King and the Range Rover, Peter Stevens and the XJR15 or Frank Stephenson and the McLaren 12C. 10 of the most celebrated of British designs will feature in what is possibly the most eclectic classes in the show with designs ranging from the ultra-compact original Mini to the elegant lines of the Aston Martin One-77.
When it comes to British designs, however, there is one that people cite more than any other. At this years’ London Concours there is a display dedicated to the Jaguar E-Type. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the unveiling of the E-Type, the start of a transformation from automotive icon to cultural phenomenon. Its popularity has never faltered, and the car is celebrated at London Concours this year with 11 of the finest examples. Ranging all the way from the early series one cars, through to series three and not forgetting the stunning low drag and lightweight coupes as well as the inimitable Group 44 race car.
Bringing the London Concours a touch more speed, the 200mph Club will celebrate the early pioneers and recent contenders from the world’s most famous manufacturers – that have broken the 200mph barrier. Once the holy grail of performance, the 200mph-mark still remains out of reach to all but the most exotic of vehicles. In this class we celebrate 10 legendary vehicles that have achieved the feat, from the Ferrari F40, F50, F60 and LaFerrari, through Lamborghinis and Bugattis old and new, as well as more modern metal such as the McLaren Senna.
The event this year is spilt over three days, extended from two in 2020. The first day will be a VIP preview day for car owners, VIP guests and media. The second day is style day, where the event shines a spotlight on the worlds of design, fashion and luxury. While the third day is supercar day where the event will welcome a collection of the latest performance innovators into the HAC. These will include the latest offerings from Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini and many more, with these cars joining the collection of 70 vehicles already on display.
Supercar day sees the London Concours turn its attention to the very latest marvels of high-performance automotive endeavour: the Supercars. On Supercar Thursday, selected owners of up to 60 of the finest road cars will drive them into the private, hallowed grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company, and form a world-class display of supercars for London Concours visitors to marvel over.
Outside of the car displays, London Concours will also feature a number of pop-up luxury boutiques, including most notably that of Breguet as the Presenting Partner of the event. The company will bring to London Concours, a collection of its most rare vintage timepieces, freshly serviced and restored. Argent, Bell Sport & Classic, Everrati, Thornley Kelham, Nicholas Mee & Co, Rodin and JIA will also be showcasing their latest offerings at the event.
Billed as the ultimate luxury automotive garden party in the heart of the City, London Concours features a number of premium food and drink options, including cocktails and champagne by Veuve Cliquot. There are also a number of lunch and evening food options with cocktails for entertaining, from catering partner Searcys – for more information click here.
Tickets to the London Concours are available from londonconcours.co.uk, with a full day adult admission ticket costing £40, and concessions from £20.
Highlight cars include:
Ferrari F50 Featuring in the ‘200mph class’, the F50 is part of an illustrious list of Ferrari’s flagship cars, including the F40, the Enzo and – most recently – the LaFerrari. The 4.7-litre V12 engine was developed from Ferrari’s Formula One engine of the time, helping the car to reach a top speed of 202mph – and thoroughly earning its place in this elite club.
Ferrari 250 GT SWB A true example of 1960s elegance, the 250 GT SWB is a stunning mix of gorgeous form and racing function. Powered by the much-revered small-capacity ‘Colombo’ V12 engine, the SWB is as captivating to drive as it is to look at. You’ll find it this year in the ‘Italian Berlinettas’ class along with 10 of the most beautiful Italian exotics ever created.
Aston Martin One-77 The One-77 is one of the rarest Aston Martins ever produced, with just 77 built. Priced when new from just over £1m, the One-77 is powered by a 7.3-litre V12 engine and can hit 220mph. The car is celebrated in 2021 alongside designer Marek Reichman in the Iconic British Designs class.
Jaguar XJR-15 Mechanically based on the Le Mans-winning Jaguar XJR-9, the XJR-15 was produced by JaguarSport a subsidiary of Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing. Powered by a 450bhp, 5.9-litre mid-rear mounted all-alloy Group C-spec V12 engine, inside a carbon-fibre tub, this XJR-15 is One of only 27 road going examples produced – and will be celebrated alongside its designer Peter Stevens in the Iconic British Designs class.
Porsche 911 2.7 RS Built as a homologation special, only 500 of the early ‘thin-gauge’ lightweight 2.7 RS models were ever built. The first model to wear the ‘RS’ moniker, the 2.7 represented, for many, the pinnacle of the 911’s career. Sporting wide wheel arches and the iconic duck-tail spoiler, the car’s distinctive profile is immediately recognisable. It will be part of the ‘Great Marques – Porsche’ display.
Porsche 959 Another road-going homologation car, the legendary Porsche 959 was originally designed to compete in the infamous ‘Group B’ rally class. Only 292 cars were ever produced. When it was launched, the 959 was ‘the fastest road-legal car in the world’ serving as a testbed for Porsche for both turbocharged power and all-wheel drive – technologies which have made their way into many modern Porsches. Again, this car will feature in the ‘Great Marques – Porsche’ display.
Lotus Elite ‘Type 14’ Another example of 1960s elegance, an ultra-lightweight two-seater coupé, the Elite or ‘Type 14’ was produced from 1958 to 1963. The car’s most distinctive feature was its fibreglass monocoque construction, which was used for the entire load-bearing structure of the car save a steel sub-frame which supports the engine and front suspension. Only 1,030 Elites were built. There will be one in the ‘Great Marques – Lotus’ display.
