ZEEKR gets off to an electrifying start delivering over 2000 cars in first month of production

ZEEKR, the premium electric mobility brand from Geely Holding Group, has announced delivery of over 2000 vehicles to customers in its first full month of production.

Just six months after Zeekr revealed its all-electric 001 model – a luxury shooting brake coupe – at the Shanghai Auto Show and one month since production started, it has now delivered 2,012 examples to customers in more than 150 cities across China.

Capacity at the Zeekr Intelligent Factory, one of the world’s most advanced vehicle facilities, is now ramping up to accommodate the unprecedented demand for the 001. Zeekr will continue to prioritize local market customers ahead of its planned global roll-out from 2023.

The Quote /From our boss

Andy An, CEO of Zeekr, said: “We revealed Zeekr to the world in April this year and in just eight months, we have developed the 001, started production at our state-of-the-art Intelligent Factory in Ningbo and delivered over 2000 of our luxury shooting brake coupes. This was an extremely ambitious challenge for Zeekr and I am truly proud of this startup’s progress in such record time.”

Zeekr’s 001 luxury shooting brake coupe is one of the most anticipated all-electric vehicles and the brand’s flagship product for the market. Based on Geely Holding Group’s Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA), the vehicle is able to create 400kw of power with max torque of 768 Nm through a twin motor system capable of spiriting the 001 from 0-100kph in just 3.8 seconds and braking from 100-0 kph in just 34.5 meters.

The 100kWh Z-Battery is able to charge from 10% to 80% within 30 minutes and has a 712km range, according to the NEDC cycle used in China.

The average order price with options for the 001, for the Chinese market only, was confirmed at RMB335,000 (USD 53,000) with the vast majority of orders to date being for the mid to high range models.

Zeekr customers will be able to experience a Zeekr charging station at selected locations that cover nine major cities in China. Zeekr has also included third party charging points in 211 cities to provide a hassle-free and seamless charging experience for all Zeekr users.

  • 2000 Rover Mini Cooper Sport (Britt Ekland)

Classic Car Auctions final sale of 2021 is just over a week away on Saturday 11th December at Stoneleigh Park, CV8 2LZ.

The team have a superb catalogue with Everyman Classics from across the decades going under the hammer including this 2000 Rover Mini Cooper Sport directly acquired from new by Britt Ekland herself!

Britt acquired this late-production example and was registered on 21/12/2000 remaining in her ownership ever since and has been privately entered by herself! Nissan reveals high-performance Ariya Single Seater Concept

Project to demonstrate the performance potential and excitement of Ariya’s all-electric powertrain in bespoke single seater racing car chassis

Nissan revealed today its exciting new Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept – a high-performance exploration, development and demonstration project of how the all-electric Nissan Ariya road car powertrain could be used in a bespoke single seater racing car chassis.

The concept was presented at the Nissan Futures event by Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan senior vice president for global design, and Juan Manuel Hoyos, Nissan global marketing divisional general manager for brand and engagement.

“We are delighted to present the Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept from our Nissan Futures event,” said Hoyos. “At Nissan, we dare to do what others don’t. With this concept we want to showcase the high-performance potential of the Ariya’s powertrain in a motorsports-inspired package that not only hints at the design and styling of the road car that inspired it, but that also demonstrates a new and efficient EV performance language. Acting as a testbed for future technological evolution, this project can help bring excitement from the road to the race track, and also demonstrate Nissan’s expertise in transferring knowledge and technology from the race track to the road.”

The Ariya Single Seater Concept explores what a future electrified performance style for Nissan could look like.

Albaisa said: “As we began to shape our Nissan Ambition 2030 long-term vision, we continued to build on our Timeless Japanese Futurism design language. We are now drawing inspiration from the Japanese words shun, meaning to run fast and effortlessly, and sho, meaning to soar with power and grace. The Ariya Single Seater Concept is the perfect expression of this new language. Leveraging the Ariya’s EV powertrain in a motorsports-inspired package allowed our international team to capture this new sense of speed, technology and artistry.”

Design cues from the all-new Nissan Ariya all-electric SUV can be seen across the Ariya Single Seater Concept. At the front of the vehicle is the electrified and illuminated “V” motion, familiar from Nissan’s current road car design language. At the side view, inspiration has been taken from the Ariya’s fluid and efficient surfaces, exaggerated to a maximum in carbon fiber. Overall, the Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept describes a form that, as with the Ariya, looks like it was shaped by the air itself.

Nissan’s participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship also played a key role in inspiring the Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept. Nissan races in the all-electric world championship to bring the excitement and fun of zero-emission electric vehicles to a global audience, and to be at the cutting edge of EV research and design.

“Nissan competes in Formula E not only to race on track, but also to support the development of compelling electric vehicles for customers,” said Tommaso Volpe, Nissan global motorsports director. “Our EV programs inform our Formula E program and vice versa, allowing for road-to-track technology transfer as well as track-to-road. The Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept explores the combination of the all-electric powertrain, dual motors and revolutionary all-wheel drive system of the Ariya with a pure single seat racing chassis – a powerful demonstration of just how thrilling electric vehicles could be.”

Morgan shares early design sketches of all-new three-wheeled model

  • Illustration released by Morgan Motor Company shows design direction and influences of all-new three-wheeled model
  • The model’s design combines past themes with a firm vision of Morgan’s future design direction
  • Morgan confirms a 2022 launch for the all-new three-wheeled model
  • Sketches of the vehicle show a bold and eccentric design, defined by a technical front end trailed by a fluid form
  • All-new model will be Morgan’s most configurable vehicle ever

The Morgan Motor Company has showcased the design direction of its all-new three-wheeled model with the release of a series of never-before-seen design sketches.

Taken from the drawing boards of Morgan’s design team, the illustrations demonstrate the aesthetic intent of the new model, as well as the inspirations that underpin it.

No single sketch in isolation reveals the exact look of the new model, yet in culmination they demonstrate some of the key design features that will be revealed in full when the new three-wheeled model is launched in 2022. Sketches show a technical front end trailed by a fluid form, the vehicle ‘visually towed’ by its leading front wheels. The visual mass resides behind the centre line of the front wheels and never on top of them, a theme that has remained prevalent from the earliest sketches. Further design tenets include the celebration of mechanical honestly and the communication of function through design, hallmarks of previous Morgan three wheelers.

As demonstrated in the sketches, the design of the new model is bold and eccentric, taking inspiration from mid-century jet planes, motorcycles, historic Morgan models and modern industrial product design — images of which adorn the walls of Morgan’s design and engineering offices.

Complementing this personality will be an extensive list of specification items and accessories available from the outset, making it Morgan’s most configurable vehicle ever. The model can be tailored to assume multiple identities and cater for every adventure.

Steve Morris, Chairman and CEO of Morgan Motor Company, said: “Morgan was founded on the production of three-wheeled cars, and when the 3 Wheeler was re-introduced in 2011 it became a firm pillar of the company’s product range. We recognise the importance of evolving this bloodline and continuing to provide our growing community of enthusiasts with new, exciting, and unforgettable motoring experiences. Creating the all-new three-wheeled model has been a ground-up project, throughout which safety, durability, and character have been at the forefront of our focus. It has been an absolute joy seeing the new vehicle take shape, and we cannot wait to present it to the world next year, continuing the legacy of the model.”

Jonathan Wells, Head of Design, Morgan Motor Company, said: “Morgan cars are often described as ‘analogue’, despite exhibiting industry standard technologies. We believe that in a world of technology, making art of a car’s mechanical elements serves as an antidote to typical vehicle design. Throughout design studies it became quickly apparent that the vehicle must celebrate the model’s mechanical honesty. The sketches demonstrate how these will form a focal point of the new vehicle. The ground-up design is simultaneously a reflection of Morgan’s rich past, relevant to the present, and provides a firm vision of Morgan’s design future.”

The illustrations shown today follow the previous information released in September, confirming the car’s all-new design, defined by significant engineering enhancements and a spirit of adventure. The model will be powered by an internal combustion engine at launch, specifically an inline three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from Ford, continuing Morgan’s relationship with Ford which began in 1933.

New winter offer on Suzuki twins

Suzuki has announced a new offer across its twins range – from its range-topping V-Strom 1050XT Tour to the popular SV650 – with 2.9% APR representative available over a three-year agreement, with no deposit required and an additional £500 off test ride incentive.

Running from 1 December 2021 until the end of March 2022, the offer is available on both PCP and HP deals.

The V-Strom 1050XT Tour is included, complete with three-piece aluminium luggage, as is the V-Strom 1050XT. Both machines use Suzuki’s proven 1037cc V-twin engine, boasting an abundance of torque in the low and midrange.

Models using the equally-famed 645cc V-twin, known for its free-revving character and reliability, are also included in the offer; both the V-Strom 650XT and V-Strom 650, plus the SV650 middleweight naked and its café racer-inspired stablemate, the SV650X.

The offer means the SV650, arguably the bike that spawned the current middleweight twins market, can be had for just £79 per month, thanks to just 2.9% APR and a £1,258.03 deposit on a three-year PCP deal. That figure can come down further with £500 off the RRP following a test ride. There’s also a £0 minimum deposit option that means there’s no need to find an up-front lump sum.

The Tour edition of the V-Strom 1050XT, with 112 litres of storage capacity in its aluminium boxes, can be ridden for £129 per month over three years, with a £2,314.47 deposit. The £500 test ride bonus means its RRP can drop to just £12,399, lowering that monthly repayment further still.
