Order books open 15 December, UK customer deliveries start during Q1 2022
Ahead of its arrival in showrooms early in 2022, Kia UK has announced pricing and specifications for the all-new Sportage.
The launch of the new car signals the widest range of powertrains ever, with customers able to choose from mild hybrid, hybrid, petrol, and diesel. Plug-in hybrid variants will join the line-up towards the end of Q1 2022, with all other iterations available from launch. UK order books for the new model open on 15 December.
The all-new Sportage delivers a brand-new design identity that gives the new car superb on-road presence. A dedicated design, especially for Europe, indicates the level of importance and significance that Kia places on the fifth generation Sportage. The medium SUV is not only the best-selling Kia model in the UK, but also in Europe and globally. The design is sleek yet muscular and combines with a cutting-edge premium interior that includes a curvaceous integrated display incorporating the latest in connectivity technology, including Kia Connect.
Developed using a new architecture, the latest Sportage has been developed in Europe for European buyers. In the car’s 28-year history, this is the first time that a separate model has been engineered exclusively for Europe. The packaging of the new car offers greater interior space while maintaining the relatively compact dimensions that make it ideal for European roads. Boot space, head- and leg-room are all substantially increased compared to the previous-generation car, with best-in-class legroom for rear seat occupants.
With two high-definition 12.3-inch displays available on ‘3’ models and above, they put the driver at the centre of the action. The latest Sportage is fully connected with access to over-the-air software and map updates, while the Kia Connect smartphone app – available on ‘3’ and ‘GT-Line’ grades and higher – allows owners to interact with their car without having to be in it.
The line-up includes a brand new HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) for the first time, with a 1.6-litre T-GDi (Turbocharged-Gasoline Direct injection) engine, developing 226bhp. This will be joined by a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) alternative towards the end of Q1 2022, offering 261bhp – another first for Sportage.
A selection of 1.6-litre internal combustion engines complete the range, with both petrol and diesel power on offer, underlining that this Sportage model is the most comprehensive yet. Available with and without Kia’s 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the latest Sportage is offered with a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. A six-speed automatic transmission is offered on all HEV and PHEV variants.
Six well-equipped all-new Sportage editions The UK line-up for the all-new Sportage follows the same straightforward grade structure that characterises every model that Kia sells in the UK.

The world’s first pure-electric luxury saloon undergoes final testing of drive and suspension systems at the BMW Group winter test centre in Arjeplog, Sweden
Extreme conditions present the ideal environment to fine-tune the driving dynamics of the BMW i7
Intensive test programme to take the BMW driving experience to a new high
Lapland’s frozen lakes used to tailor the steering, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and the regulated interaction between friction brake and deceleration by means of energy recuperation
Pure-electric drivetrain performance evaluated in extreme sub-zero temperatures
BMW i7 to launch in 2022
Ahead of next year’s launch of the BMW i7 – the world’s first all-electric luxury saloon – BMW is conducting winter testing of the forthcoming new model at the Polar Circle.
The BMW i7 is undergoing driving dynamics evaluation at the BMW Group winter test centre in Arjeplog, Sweden. Situated just a short distance from the Artic Circle, the environment of surrounding frozen surfaces and snow-covered roads present the perfect conditions for the manufacturer’s test engineers to fine-tune the performance of all drive and suspension systems.
The demanding test environment ensures that the BMW i7 will elevate the driving dynamics and comfort that are synonymous with the brand to a new high in the luxury class, yet all the while complementing optimum performance and refinement with zero local emissions.
Suspension components, together with steering, braking and vehicle stability systems, that are being developed for the future generation of the BMW 7 Series will be honed to perfection in the extreme climate. Specifically, springs, dampers and various regulating systems will be subject to performance-orientated tuning to ensure maximum driver feedback and enjoyment to match the several different drive modes.
Amongst the extremely challenging winter conditions, Lapland’s frozen lakes with their low road friction coefficient provide the opportunity for meticulous development of the steering, Dynamic Stability Control system (DSC) and the accurately regulated interaction between friction brake and deceleration by means of energy recuperation.
The intensive winter testing programme also focuses on the components of the all-electric drive system. The BMW i7’s electric drive, high-voltage battery, power electronics and charging technology all originate from the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology, which already provides exceptional sustainable driving pleasure in the BMW iX. Above all, it is the motor, the battery and the temperature control system of the BMW i7 that prove their advanced technology and durability in the extreme sub-zero temperatures common to the north of Sweden.
With the BMW i7, the brand’s current model offensive in the luxury segment, plus its drive to introduce electrified vehicles in an increasing amount of vehicle sectors, is being continued in a particularly progressive way. For the first time, it is possible to experience a luxury saloon that is characterised by uncompromised elegance and refinement in conjunction with a purely electric drive system. The BMW i7 is based on the same vehicle concept as all further model variants of the BMW 7 Series. This integrated development also guarantees locally emission-free driving with the characteristic combination of both sporty and comfort-oriented handling and the space of a BMW luxury saloon.
The BMW Group With its four brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad, the BMW Group is the world’s leading premium manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles and also provides premium financial and mobility services. The BMW Group production network comprises 31 production and assembly facilities in 15 countries; the company has a global sales network in more than 140 countries.
In 2020, the BMW Group sold over 2.3 million passenger vehicles and more than 169,000 motorcycles worldwide. The profit before tax in the financial year 2020 was € 5.222 billion on revenues amounting to € 98.990 billion. As of 31 December 2020, the BMW Group had a workforce of 120,726 employees.
The success of the BMW Group has always been based on long-term thinking and responsible action. The company set the course for the future at an early stage and consistently makes sustainability and efficient resource management central to its strategic direction, from the supply chain through production to the end of the use phase of all products.

The All-New Jogger will be available exclusively with 7-seats and in three trim levels – Essential, Comfort, and Extreme SE. All versions are generously equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, and rear parking sensors as standard across the range. In the interests of keeping things simple for customers, the All-New Jogger is offered with just two options – metallic paint and a spare wheel.
The All-New Dacia Jogger is available to pre-order online now, with first deliveries expected in the first half of 2022.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
Based on the company’s modular CMF-B platform, the All-New Jogger features a unique rear module that extends the car’s length to just over 4.5m, making it the longest model in the Dacia range. Key to the Jogger’s spaciousness, this extra length allows it to deliver the same level of versatility as many larger models from the segments above.
With a generous 200mm of ground clearance (unladen), a reinforced body structure, and protective body-cladding, the All-New Jogger has been designed with an active life in mind. That ethos can be seen in the bold, wide grille, flanked by Dacia’s signature Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and headlights with LED low-beam illumination.
The vertical rear lights maximise the width of the tailgate making loading easier, while a low load sill makes accessing the All-New Jogger’s spacious cargo area fuss-free. The Jogger’s readiness for the great outdoors continues with its innovative modular roof rails that transform in a few simple steps to accept anything from skis to mountain bikes, complete with a generous 80kg load capacity.
Comfort models feature Dacia’s clever ‘Flex’ wheels which, although styled to replicate the appearance of alloy wheels, are more robust and affordable should they need to be replaced.
Alloy wheels with a stylish black finish are standard on the Extreme SE model, along with modular black roof rails, black door mirrors, black shark-fin antenna, unique protective door strips, and contrasting front and rear skid plates.
There are six distinctive body colours to choose from, with Pearl Black, Slate Grey, Moonstone Grey and Terracotta Bronze available across the range, and Glacier White and Iron Blue on Essential and Comfort models.
INTERIOR FEATURES
The All-New Dacia Jogger offers unrivalled interior space for a family of up to seven. With three full rows of seating, the All-New Jogger can easily accommodate up to seven adults in comfort or, with the split-folding seats arranged into one of more than 60 possible configurations, up to 1,819 DM3 VDA of cargo space.
The second-row seats offer plenty of seat height, similar to those in the front, together with generous foot- and knee-room. A tipping mechanism provides access to the third-row seats, made easier by longer rear doors, while an impressive 855mm of headroom and 127mm of knee-room allows two adults to sit in comfort.
With all seats in place, the boot offers a useful 213-litres of storage space, rising to 712-litres with the third-row seats folded and measured to the top of the backrest. Folding the second-row seats and removing the third row increases that still further to an impressive 1,819 DM3 VDA.
Dacia’s ingenious design ensures the available space can be used in any number of ways, with four lashing rings, three load hooks, and elastic straps to hold loads safely and securely. With a 12V socket and ISOFIX child-seat mounts for the second-row seats, the All-New Jogger offers maximum versatility.
Fold-down tray tables (available on Extreme SE) and cup holders for the second-row seats ensure all occupants are kept entertained, while even those in the third row have their own armrests.
Always helping to keep family life organised, the All-New Jogger boasts 24-litres of storage space spread conveniently throughout the cabin. A generously sized 7-litre glove box is joined by front and rear door pockets capable of holding a 1-litre bottle, with a 1.3-litre lidded storage bin within the centre console and six cup-holders.
MULTIMEDIA
Three advanced multimedia and infotainment systems are available in the All-New Dacia Jogger, each with a range of powerful connected features for busy, modern families.
Dacia’s clever Media Control system revolves around a smartphone docking station integrated into the dashboard. By using the screen that we carry with us every day – our smartphones – Dacia has created a way of maximising usability and familiarity, while also solving the problems caused by aftermarket windscreen mounts and charging cables.
Once the smartphone is held securely within the universal slot, the free Dacia Media Control app places the phone at the heart of the connected experience. Navigation, radio, music, telephone, and even vehicle information are all now at the driver’s fingertips, accessed through the phone’s own voice recognition function or via the steering wheel-mounted controls. Music and navigation instructions are channelled through the car’s speakers thanks to the Bluetooth connection, while a conveniently located USB port handles charging duties.
Media Display upgrades the audio experience with four speakers, while an 8-inch touchscreen mounted high on the dashboard and angled towards the driver for maximum visibility takes over from the Media Control docking station. The system boasts both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while a new ‘Car’ tab gives access to various ADAS and vehicle settings.
Media Nav builds upon the Media Display system with the addition of wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a full in-car navigation function, and an upgraded audio system with six speakers and two USB ports.
ENGINES
From launch, the All-New Jogger will be powered by Dacia’s new TCe 110 1.0-litre three-cylinder direct injection turbocharged petrol engine. Developing 110hp and 200Nm of torque at 2,900-3,500rpm, it uses technical innovations such as variable valve timing, a variable displacement oil pump, an integrated exhaust manifold, and a particulate filter to achieve impressive performance while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Euro 6D-Full compliant and equipped with Stop & Start as standard, the TCe 110 is coupled to a smooth-shifting, low friction six-speed manual transmission to help deliver the best possible performance.
SAFETY
All Dacia Jogger models feature six airbags, including curtain and side airbags to protect the abdomen, chest and head, as well as a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) is standard across the range and uses front-mounted radar to measure the distance to the vehicles in front and warn the driver should a risk of collision be detected. If the driver fails to take avoiding action, the system can amplify or apply the brakes automatically.
Blind Spot Warning illuminates an LED light within the door mirror to warn the driver if another vehicle may be concealed from view.

Automobili Pininfarina Test and Development Driver Nick Heidfeld has completed a comprehensive assessment of the production-intent Battista, ahead of client deliveries in 2022
Heidfeld has brought his motorsport and EV pedigree to Italy’s most powerful production vehicle ever, working with Automobili Pininfarina engineers to create a truly unique hyper GT
Heidfeld experienced the Battista on the road and track in Italy in production-intent form, accompanied by its emotive soundscape for the first time
Battista performance data headines: 1,900 hp and 2,360 Nm of torque, 0-100 km/h in less than two seconds and a zero-emissions driving range of up to 500 km
Four independent electric motors and powerful 120 kWh lithium-ion battery, combined with advanced intelligent four-wheel torque vectoring deliver an unrivalled driving experience
Five drive modes deliver distinct driving characteristics, with Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere modes tailoring the experience to the preference of the driver
As the Battista pure-electric hyper GT nears its final phase of development and customer deliveries early in 2022, revered racer and Automobili Pininfarina Test and Development Driver Nick Heidfeld has taken the opportunity to appraise the most powerful Italian sports car ever created, on road and track near the company’s engineering and operations centre in northern Italy.
Automobili Pininfarina’s engineers have worked with ex-Formula One and Formula E driver Nick Heidfeld since the start of the Battista development programme. Nick said: “It has been a real privilege to play a part in developing Battista, which represents a significant evolution in the world of hyper and luxury cars. From the first time I experienced Battista’s performance in 2019 in an advanced simulator, to today on road and track, I believe the Automobili Pininfarina team has successfully developed a unique hyper GT that is enormous fun, as well as incredibly fast.”
As the most powerful production car to ever come out of Italy, engineering excellence has been the constant throughout development, and the tailored driving experience provided by the Battista’s advanced e-powertrain and bespoke driving dynamics has impressed Heidfeld throughout.
The full 1,900 hp is experienced in Furiosa mode, which also utilises the full torque available from the four independent electric motors, combining to deliver a 0-100 km/h time of less than two seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h. Originally projected to produce 2,300 Nm of torque, Battista is now developing an increased 2,360 Nm. This comes from two 250 kW motors at the front, and two 450 kW motors at the rear, with 280 Nm of torque for each front motor and 900 Nm at each rear motor.
Nick Heidfeld said: “In this test I was able to drive Battista with full power available. The effect under acceleration is completely mindbending – drivers will never bore of the experience, no matter how many times they feel it. This road car sprints faster than a Formula 1 car, and in Furiosa mode, I was left with a huge grin on my face every time. Every client that experienced Battista with me was positively overwhelmed by the experience – there is simply nothing like it.”
Heidfeld continued: “Battista is a beautiful piece of design, and its formidable presence is now enhanced by its unique exterior sound. With Battista in Furiosa mode, the exterior sound is at its most audible setting and it instantly made me smile on approach. You hear Battista before you see it – the car appears ‘alive’, and it helps develop an emotional connection that I honestly did not expect. The team had a tough target to hit here, and I believe this strategy is now proving a success.”
Four independent high-performance electric permanent-magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) independently distribute power to each wheel through the Battista’s advanced torque vectoring system, which delivers infinitely variable driving dynamics.
The system recuperates and transfers electrical energy without using the brakes – the active energy shifting takes place directly via the four electric motors, resulting in a much faster, more precise and efficient shift of torque compared with torque vectoring by braking.
Control of the driving experience is provided by a beautifully milled rotary dial, ergonomically situated right next to the driver, allowing for quick changes in driving mode between Pura, Calma, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere settings – each one lending a unique character to the Battista’s drive, perfectly adapted to a range of driving conditions.
Heidfeld said: “The handling on open roads – even on unpredictable surfaces – proved Battista to be beautifully balanced. Just how a hyper GT should feel. Battista’s performance on track had already surprised and impressed me after I experienced it in Nardo earlier this year, so my expectations on this occasion were set high. This test however confirmed that the team has achieved its target of creating a new type of hyper GT which is rewarding on all surfaces. The ride quality and damping both feel excellent, and the steering feels natural and the perfect fit for what we want to achieve in Battista. I am very sensitive to steering feel as a racing driver, and the sweet spot here is for it to feel light yet connected, and direct yet smooth.”
Calibrated using thousands of miles of software simulation before being introduced to development cars, the driving modes allow the driver to fine-tune the driving experience and unlock both the full potential of the advanced torque vectoring system and honed characteristics of the Battista as a hyper GT.
Paolo Dellacha, Automobili Pininfarina Chief Product and Engineering Officer remarked: “Our cooperation with Nick Heidfeld started in 2019, when he participated in the first physical ergonomic test of the Battista interior model; evaluating the driving position and the proposed HMI system. This was followed by him ‘virtually’ testing Battista in an advanced driving simulator where we started to tune the hyper GT’s bespoke chassis dynamics set-up. Nick has been a brilliant partner throughout the whole development programme, not only for his driving skills and unique experience in both Formula 1 and Formula E, but also for his ability to evaluate and improve the programme in its various stages of development by delivering the anticipated view of our customers.
“This input was essential as we aimed to combine the extreme performance of a hypercar with a much wider spectra of usability in Battista, where outstanding power and torque are always accessible, safe and enjoyable on roads every day. Battista now has incredibly refined body and axle balance, perfect integration of e-powertrain and chassis domain controls, and optimum specific calibrations of its five Drive Modes. Coupled with its highly-connected User Interface and unique Sound Experience, Battista is now redefining the essence of Granturismo.”

ABOUT AUTOMOBILI PININFARINA
Automobili Pininfarina is based in operational headquarters in Munich, Germany, with a team of experienced automotive executives from luxury and premium car brands. Designed, engineered and produced by hand in Italy, the Battista hyper GT and all future models will be sold and serviced in all major global markets under the brand name Pininfarina. The new company aims to be the most sustainable luxury car brand in the world.
The company is a 100 per cent Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd investment and has been named Automobili Pininfarina following the signing of a trademark licence agreement between Pininfarina S.p.A. and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Pininfarina S.p.A. will take an influential role in supporting design and production capacities based on their unique 90-year experience of producing many of the world’s most iconic cars.
The world’s first six-wheel-drive Hyper-GT, code named ‘Project Deep Space’, will boast prodigious levels of power and performance, four-place diamond seating, and private-jet-class lavishness.
This next phase of Hennessey’s strategic product plan will introduce three all-new vehicles over the next 10 years
‘Project Deep Space’ follows the production of the Venom F5 hypercar
Six-wheel-drive, with six electric propulsion motors, permits astonishing grip and performance
Four-passenger cabin with distinctive diamond seating arrangement – driver is centrally positioned and rear offers lie-flat seating – brings private jet luxury to the hyper-GT segment
Production of the world’s most expensive EV, priced from $3 million US Dollars, is set to begin in 2026
Hennessey, the Texas-based hypercar manufacturer and high-performance vehicle creator, has revealed part of its 10-year product plan that will see three all-new ground-up models created over the next decade.
The first debut, which follows the Venom F5, will be the world’s first six-wheel-drive, fully electric Hyper-GT – codenamed ‘Project Deep Space’.
Touted as the world’s most expensive electric vehicle (from $3 million USD) the new car will be a unique, ultra-luxurious, grand tourer that can transport four adults in absolute comfort along with four sets of golf clubs, plus luggage. Of course, given Hennessey’s trademark obsession with power and speed, it will be devastatingly fast with unmatched traction thanks to its unique six-wheel drive powertrain. With a 50 percent increase in surface contact over traditional four-wheeled vehicles, the performance of the Hennessey hyper-GT will be utterly astonishing.
“Hennessey has spent more than 30 years building some of the fastest and most exciting vehicles in the world,” explains company CEO & founder, John Hennessey. “This mantra will continue for our next 30 years by introducing the world’s first fully electrified, six-wheel-drive hyper-GT. We believe that ‘Deep Space’, with six electric motors combined with six driven wheels, could be the world’s quickest accelerating four-seater from zero to 200 mph!”
The passenger cabin is no less cutting-edge. The innovative diamond-shaped seating positions, with the driver centrally located, permits two passengers to sit to the side and slightly back from the driver. The fourth passenger, positioned directly behind the driver, will occupy the world’s first VVIP (Very Very Important Person) lie-flat automotive seat – bringing private-jet-class luxury to the hyper-GT world.
“In Project Deep Space, we’ve merged the essence of early-twentieth century grand tourers with an otherworldly hyper GT form that leaves no doubt about its capability and intent,” says Hennessey Director of Design, Nathan Malinick. “Integrating many industry firsts, our next all-new model turns the EV ‘hypercar’ concept on its head while exhibiting our ‘art of reduction’ design philosophy. By combining Hennessey’s passion for performance with the pinnacle of automotive luxury, we will offer our customers the best of both worlds with a central driving position, ample space for passengers, room for luggage, and best in class performance. The result of our advanced development program will be a car like no other.”
With 100% new design and engineering, ‘Project Deep Space’ will be constructed with an ultra-lightweight carbon-fiber chassis and body panels, plus dramatic gullwing doors. The interior will be fitted with the highest quality materials – bespoke ordering will permit discerning clients to customize each electric hyper-GT to their wishes.
“I’ve been building some of the world’s fastest accelerating vehicles for decades, yet they have always been performance-limited by mechanical grip. Six-wheeled electric propulsion is the solution. The technology is unprecedented in this segment – both forward-thinking and innovative. Our design and engineering team is excited about embracing the future,” says John Hennessey.
Hennessey Special Vehicles will construct the new electric hyper-GT at its advanced production facility in Sealy, Texas. Hennessey will work closely with technology partners including Shell Pennzoil and Delta Cosworth to develop the electrified powertrain. The dedicated Texas facility, which is currently building the Hennessey Venom F5 hypercar, sits adjacent to the Hennessey Performance factory that produces more than 600 high-performance cars and trucks each year.
“I recently had the opportunity to visit the Hennessey team and to hear the exciting news about their electric hypercar,” said Carlos Maurer, EVP of Sectors & Decarbonization at Shell. “It’s clear that electric vehicles will play an increasingly important role in mobility. Our collaboration with Hennessey will provide us with an extreme testbed for developing our own innovative fluids and lubricants as we strive to be at the forefront of this transition to a lower-carbon future.”
‘Project Deep Space’ is part of Hennessey’s strategic 10-year product plan. The electric hyper-GT, which is engineered for grand touring, is scheduled to follow the production of the sold-out Venom F5 coupe – the company’s 1,817 bhp hypercar decathlete.
Full specifications for ‘Project Deep Space’ are yet to be announced, but Hennessey has confirmed that pricing will start at $3 million US Dollars and production will be capped at 105 units globally to ensure exclusivity for its customers. Production is planned to begin in 2026. HennesseySpecialVehicles.com
